Waldorf Publishing is the publisher who gave A.J. his first shot to be published. Producing four co-written books in 2016 for Waldorf allowed A.J. to gain his introduction into the publishing world and granted him his first solo project, The Askren Boys, releasing in the Fall of 2018.

Detroit Sports Nation |
Detroit Sports Nation is the Detroit based sports blog that A.J. was a contributor and editor for, from June 2016-May 2018. In December of 2016 A.J. was promoted to the Detroit Tigers editor for the site.
At DSN, A.J. started a Tigers' based column, called Section 313 where he wrote lengthy, in-depth articles about the current team. It was here that he wrote his most important article, "Baseball, Racism, and America." To see more of A.J.'s work with DSN click here. |
Pro Baseball Detroit |
Pro Baseball Detroit is a blog that was created by Detroit Tigers play-by-play man, Mario Impemba. In April of 2018, A.J. began to contribute to the blog, focusing on the history of the Detroit Tigers.
There is no greater marriage than when passions meet, and thus is the case with Pro Baseball Detroit. A.J.'s penchant for history and belief that baseball is the greatest game in the world makes his contributions to Pro Baseball Detroit an awesome project for A.J. to work on. Some of his works to this point include The 1968 Tigers -- Healing a Broken City and Homers Against Hitler; Hank Greenberg's Triumph. You can see more of A.J.'s work for Pro Baseball Detroit here. |
Society for American Baseball Research |
A.J. has always loved the game of baseball. In 2015, he joined the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) and wrote for their Games Project.
The article that he contributed for the SABR Games Project was on one of his favorite baseball players of all-time, Derek Jeter. He was privileged to write Jeter's final game in Yankee Stadium -- a monumental game for one of the more iconic players of A.J.'s generation. The script for Jeter's game could not have been written any better, and A.J. considers himself lucky to have had the opportunity to capture it for SABR Read the article here. |
Smokin' Sports |
Smokin Sports is an amateur podcast/video cast that A.J. hosts weekly with three buddies from his cigar shop, Ole Grapevine Cigar and Tobacco.
It started in 2015 with A.J. and his buddy D.J. as just a weekly podcast on soundcloud and has since evolved to include two other guys and is solely on video.
